Riding the St. Louis Arch during Covid

While the Gateway Arch is currently open to visitors, the tour is a little different now. To ensure the safety of all visitors, guidelines have been put into place. This includes methods for socially distancing and time limits.

FACE COVERINGS

We have all gotten use to wearing a mask wherever we go. The arch is no exception. All guests aged 2 and over are required to wear face coverings for the duration of the tour (approximately 45 minutes).

LIMITED CAPACTIY

To ensure as much social distancing as possible, capacity is currently limited.

DIRECTIONAL FLOW

Along with limiting capacity, there are processes in place for maintaining a directional flow. Floor markers will guide guests through the line and to their tram car. To keep the flow from the observation deck, one tram will transport guests to the top while the other will transport them back down.

OBERSERVATION DECK

Once at the top, groups of guests will be given their own numbered section of the observation deck. Plexiglass dividers are in place between each observation window and plastic is below the windows.

CLEANING AND DISINFCTING

Currently they are cleaning and sanitizing tram cars, handrails, and observation deck areas periodically throughout the day to ensure the cleanest environment for their guests.
